FUSION: An Integrated Public Terminal Cum Commercial

Our first design feature is the winning piece of Nemesio Ugaddan Jr. of Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City.  Let’s take a look and see what the edge of the design he presented was.

FUSION: An Integrated Public Terminal Cum Commercial

Ugaddan’s design is inspired by the mythical bird Phoenix, a symbolism of death and rebirth in a powerful transformation. Fusion is a public terminal with spaces for retail shops, and a food park. It aims to give additional income to residents near the area. A garden is also strategically positioned on top of the structure built to reduce lacking green facilities nearby.

The multipurpose terminal is envisioned to provide accessibility to commuters. Aside from this, Ugaddan introduces a storm drainage system in the Station in which substructures will serve as storage of excess floodwater shall the need arise. This can also be a model system or structure for other stations, if possible. This helps and solves the problem of flooding in Metro Manila with limited drainage systems.

The “Grand Central Terminal of Manila” is also an innovative place as hallways will be filled with an e-supermarket for customers to virtually shop and conveniently purchase goods.

Below is the complete floor plan of Fusion.

Fusion, with all the winning entries were in display during the Construction Expo (CONEX) 2019 held from April 11-13, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
