DANGAT: A Community Based Emergency Operations Center

Cellou Lapinid of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines proposes an Emergency Operations Center for residents living within the perimeter.

Dangat means arrival, symbolizing the arrival of colonization, and the rebirth of a new purpose that is futuristic and helpful for the residents in case of calamity.

Lapinid sees the area as a central meeting point perfect for dry runs, and actual evacuation when calamities come, given its strategic location and access to residents.

The design style combines old American to modern Filipino architecture with the use of local resources like bamboo. The open space allows the site to breathe and gives a pleasant view that visually and emotionally helps in case residents come in.
