CONCEPT

My inspiration in my design for the eco-friendly elementary school is the MIMOSA PLANT or “MAKAHIYA PLANT”. Makahiya plant is already used at the time of our national heroes as describing the Filipino as Indios, with no power to study and capability to be enrolled and learn in school. In our generation, many sitios in our country are still experiencing this situation. I adopted the natural instinct of this plant that when you blow the leaves it automatically closes, and after few minutes, it will go back to its original form. By adopting that concept in designing a classroom that can expand and be a compact structure when it comes to calamities, it will recover itself in a short period of time.
