CONCEPT

Poor people around rural areas are greatly affected by the pandemic and other calamities, a life-challenging situation that made them feel neglected, disheartened, and hopeless. Particularly when the consequence comes that they cannot be accommodated even how much they need attention and immediate assistance. This is the driving concept behind ‘Breakthrough’, with a vision to provide shelter, comfort, hope, joy, and positivity through the added features of the building that allows an experience of the healing power of nature to its users.

Inspired from “Flatten the Curve”, the structure was relatively designed to be wide and flat, mimicking the horizon. It harmonizes the panoramic view with colors of Philippine contemporary architecture and hues from the local materials used. Naturally ventilated indoor facilities and wide outdoor spaces give a larger space for the air to flow preventing the spread of viruses within the area. Other than supporting and following the guidelines in designing a hospital, it also encompasses the importance of the connection between community, environment, and nation.
