CONCEPT

TAYOG CENTER is a retirement center that aims to give elderly Filipinos an identity towards leaning to holistic environment that promotes sustainability when it comes to occupying spaces that are conducive to holistic development and productivity. Inspired from bamboo, baklad, and bakod being fused together, this building exhibits sustainable design strategies and considerations that would perfectly fit Filipino families and elderlies.

Oftentimes, we get amazed by how extravagant other country’s retirement centers are, as they prioritize wellbeing, sustainability, accessibility, and providing other basic necessities for the occupants of the building especially for the aged and disabled. As for us, elderlies and PWDs still suffer from having accessible facilities and experience difficulties in socializing since their designated spaces tends to immobilize them from fun and enjoyment. These instances that they experience every day is a neglected issue which is why we need to amplify this demand that requires empathy and human considerations.
