CONCEPT

The design project is entitled “The Nest” for which the project is located in El Nido, Palawan, an English translation of the Spanish word location. During the Spanish colonization on 1954, rare species of the swallow called the swift or nido was brought into life producing edible birds nest inside the cave of the limestone cliffs which is one of the biggest attractions in Palawan.

The Nest is a place made or chosen by a bird for laying eggs and sheltering its young. In connection to the design project, the retirement and recreation resort aims to develop a haven offering a safe space that will nurture the needs and wants of the elderly whilst enjoying the beauty of El Nido, Palawan by highlighting the tourism sector of the city to be applied as the design concept of the resort along with future proofing technology making the lives of the users easier shifting to vernacular and futuristic architecture.
