CONCEPT
The Proposed Central Market is inspired by the “Palakaya," meaning dragging a net along the sea bottom in order to gather fish or other marine life to subject their most essential and primary source of income. It is situated in the area near the road and can be easily accessed to give an equal opportunity, inclusivity and make it accessible to all the users including vendors, neighborhood, visitors and tourists. Without diminishing the importance of the natural environment, the structure is articulated wherein ecological sustainability is being considered by the type of materials, waste management and energy consumption. The Central Market is conceivable as a floating structure for it is placed where an infinite water feature that is considered as a borrowed view helps to escalate the tourism and the economic growth by being the first floating market in the Philippines interconnecting with the arousing New International Airport that will make the site commercially engaged. This project can help the delicacies of the sinking community arise and be acknowledged locally and internationally.
