The spotlight on ArchiNEXT’S TOP 3

The spotlight on ArchiNEXT’S TOP 3

Fresh from the ArchiNEXT Awarding Ceremony held April 17, 2015 at SMX Convention Center, the organizers pulsed winners Gino Vincent M. Diongzon, Joanne Pauline Villanueva and the Grand Winner, Laredo Angelo Paras, Jr.

All of them are on high skies and elated that they got the topmost tier in this prestigious competition.

Diongzon’s design inspiration for his Sustainable Community Comfort Area (SCCA), ArchiNEXT’s first challenge, is the Filipino’s Banawe Rice Terraces.

Villanueva, the second runner up meanwhile, considered the built environment in her concept: the rural areas. She furthered that materials to be used should readily be available and adaptable in the area.

Paras, Jr.’s idea is to make the construction as simple as possible yet incorporated the leaf pattern to give more character to the design.

Young as they are, these winners are already an inspiration to the many. They all agreed that architecture students should not be afraid participating in competitions such as ArchiNEXT and never limit their creativity.
